Happy Halloween

can't believe it is already Halloween!!

Well this past week was a little crazy! Sister Wedemeyer and I took a rode trip up to the city for a meeting! We took a picture of us on our mini rode trip :)

On thursday it rained all day long! As you can see from the picture we got soaked! Luckily the lady we were going to visit gave us a skirt to change into! We made cute little witches hats and brooms! It was a lot of fun! The tops of the hats were waffle cones and the bottom was moon pies and then we dipped them in chocolate and decorated them!

On Saturday we had the ward trunk or treat!! It was combined with the Lawton 1st ward too! We had such a great turnout! So many people showed up! It was so fun to see everyone dressed up for Halloween!

A couple miracles this past week! First off Chicago Mike! Sister Wedemeyer met him on exchanges a couple weeks ago and he has progressed so quickly! He has come to church and met with us 4 times! He came to the trunk or treat too! Second, Nephi and Liam are getting baptized Thanksgiving weekend!!!! :D and lastly we met some girls back in August and they go to Young Womens off and on and just recently we started teaching them and some of their friends too! So many good things are happening! I am excited to be staying in Lawton! Teaching at Fort Sill is AMAZING! I had 9 investigators in my class yesterday! It was crazy! The spirit was so strong!! The church is true and I have seen the gospel bless the lives of so many people! It changes lives! Don't forget to pray and read!

I hope all yall have a blessed week! Have a great Halloween :)

All my love,
Sister Jackson

4 months

You This past week was full of surprises and miracles! It all started with a missionary meeting I had last monday. Another meeting on the Sabbath Day! (hopefully we are starting to see just how important the Sabbath Day is) We watched the training from the Apostles on Sabbath Day at Church and Sabbath Day at home. They both were really good! I have really started to reflect on my Sabbath Day observance and how I can show my love for God. What sign will I show the Lord to show my love for him?

Lamb of God!! The musical that we have been telling everyone about for weeks was this weekend! And was as good as everyone was saying it would be! Both nights had a pretty good turn out. I love how music brings the spirit so strongly! One of my favorite songs from the performance was "Gloria, my Savior Lives."

I LOVE being a missionary! The work here is really progressing! We found 4 new investigators this past week! We also met so many potentials this past week too! We are meeting people that are so prepared to hear the gospel. Miracles are happening every day!

Lastly, the surprising part of my week was getting a trainers call! It took me through a loop cause I thought my time in Lawton was up, but I guess I will be staying a little longer! And on the 28th I will be getting a new companion that will just have finished the MTC. I am a little nervous but also excited! I hope all yall are doing well! Have a blessed week!

All my love,
Sister Jackson

Elder Luther and Brother Torres are in the Branch Presidency for Fort Sill. We have a meeting at the Luthers every Saturday morning!

Oklahoma skies are the best!

Yesterday a bird flew in our garage! It is at the top of the garage. It took us a couple tries to finally get it out.

It was just a little bird!

Happy Fall Yall!

I LOVE fall! The leaves are falling, just missing the step of changing colors! So many houses decorated with cute fall decorations! Pumpkins everyone, which means lots of members feeding us pumpkin desserts! Yum :)

Well this past week was filled with miracles! Three really big ones! First one with Necole! Just a refresher about Necole, she is the lady I met within the first couple weeks of me being here. We went back weeks/months later and watched Meet the Mormons! and then this past week we had a lesson with her! She even told us that she watched part of General Conference!!!! She said what the prophet talked about is things she would say to her kids! She has been sick lately so we asked if she wanted a blessing and she said yes! so we had the Elders give her a blessing! She mentioned to us that everything in our religion seemed similar but different. This is what she said about our religion, "Your religion is beautiful!"

The 2nd big miracle happened with Paula! She is our other new investigator. We went over this past week to help her with her house. She has a lot of things in her house so we got all the missionaries over to help clean! It was an interesting experience! Lets just say we threw away a lot of things... Well that evening we went back over with Sister Saufoi to teach her a lesson. Paula was very open and honest. She seemed to understand and accept the things we were teaching. After we talked about Joseph Smith she mentioned that she doesn't feel pressured into anything, like she has felt before with other religions. Her prayer at the end was so sincere! Such a spiritual evening! Sister Saufoi even bore her testimony about the experience we had with her earlier in the week. A couple days later we went back over and read 2 Nephi 31 with her. She was really pondering over what we were reading. At the end we invited her to be baptized and she said yes! She has come such a long way since we first met her! I have already seen changes happen.

And lastly, the soldiers on Fort Sill! Miracles are always happening there! I taught the Plan of Salvation and the insights the soldiers make amaze me every time! Brother Hull was in my class again and I could see the difference in just the one week! He had read the Book of Mormon during the week and had talked with his battle buddy Brother Larson during the week about the gospel! I love going to Fort Sill on sundays! So many spiritual experiences happen there.

I love all yall! Thanks for all the support and prayers! I hope all yall have a blessed week! Don't forget to pray and read your scriptures!!

All my love,
Sister Jackson

Beautiful week!

Fall is in the air! It is finally starting to cool down here in Lawton! A couple great things happened this past week!

1. General Conference!! I hope all yall enjoyed Conference! It was so great! It is wonderful that we got to hear from the leaders of our church this weekend. I watched it at the church and it was pretty much just the missionaries there haha :) Here are some quotes that I liked, "Exaltation is our goal, discipleship is our journey"-Dieter F. Uchtdorf... "As we make Christ the center of our lives, our fears will be replaced by the courage of our conviction"-President Monson

2. Fort Sill! The military branch still had church yesterday, so it was their fast and testimony meeting! Sacrament Meeting was such a spiritual experience! Probably the most spiritual Sacrament Meeting I have had on my mission. So many soldiers shared their short but powerful testimony. A lot of soldiers talked about how they have been less active for a long time but since joining the military have come back. (I think there is something about being in the military that brings the soldiers to Christ) They talked about how the second they walk through the church doors they feel like they are home. They feel love and the sense of family. 2 soldiers who aren't members (they came for the first time last week) bore their testimony. One talked about how even though he had only been reading the Book of Mormon for a week, he has noticed a difference in his life. He said he looks forward to the day now and has added strength to make it through the day. The other talked about how he hasn't been able to put the book down since he started reading. Others just added to that testimony about how it is the simple things: prayer and reading the scriptures that bring so many blessings. The blessings may be small but they come. Another soldier talked about how the missionaries are going to invite everyone to do things and how they should keep those commitments cause they truly do bless our lives! It was such a powerful experience! I also taught the first lesson yesterday. I had 4 visitors in my class and 3 of them were pretty interested! Hoover had come to just learn more about Mormons and by the end he told me he had never heard anything like this before and how he was going to read the Book of Mormon! Rauch told me he has been to every church out there and is truly seeking for truth. The comments and conversations I have with these soldiers amaze me every time. They are so prepared to hear the gospel!

3. Helped Karen with her gardening! We went over to Karen's house to help her with her gardening. We were able to help her plant some flowers and rearrange her pots from her back yard to front yard. Doesn't her flower bed look so pretty! She even sent us home with some flowers for our yard! She is the sweetest!

4. Allen! He is our 11 year old investigator that we have been working with since I first got here. Well this weekend we finally saw him! It has been a couple weeks since we have seen him. He has made so much progress! He said the prayer all by himself for the first time since we have started teaching him! He also asked when he was getting baptized!! And he watched General Conference with the Goodwins! He is amazing and doing so well!

I am so grateful to be a missionary and helping others come unto Christ! Russell M. Ballard said, "Christ is always near, waiting and willing to help us." I know that is true and that living the gospel will make us the happiest! Thanks for all the prayers and support! Have a blessed week!

All my love,
Sister Jackson

Sister Wedemeyer had a baptism in her old area so we went back to Edmond on tuesday! This is the four of us: me, Sister Wedemeyer, Sister Drinkall (Sister Wedemeyer's old companion), and Sister Trotter :)

We all went to dinner after General Conference.
